Overnight Oats

Breakfast is a really important time to get some healthy nutrients in. However we also know it is often the most hectic time, especially with kids. Try overnight oats to be able to have breakfast ready in the morning with no fuss. Here are some of our favourite recipes, but you can add variations that you like. They are loaded with fibre and protein to keep you going all day! These recipes were modified from www.jessicasepel.com (JSHealth), she has some amazing easy breakfast options.

Serves: 1

Ingredients: 

  • ½ cup organic rolled oats
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • 1 cup almond milk or milk of choice. You can even use coconut milk/cream to make it extra creamy
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp cacao powder
  • 1 scoop of chocolate protein powder
  • ½ banana, mashed
  • 1 tbsp natural peanut butter (or use any nut butter of your choice)
  • fresh berries, to serve
  • granola, to serve

Method:

  1. In a jar or bowl, combine the oats ,chia seeds and almond milk or milk of choice. Stir to combine and place in the fridge to soak overnight.
  2. Once the oats have soaked, add the cacao powder, chocolate protein, peanut butter and mashed banana. If the mixture is too thick, add some more milk to your desired texture
  3. Top with fresh berries and granola to serve if you wish!

Vanilla & Strawberry Overnight Oats

Serves:1

Ingredients

  • ⅓ cup rolled oats
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • 2 tbsp shredded coconut
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp vanilla essence or vanilla powder
  • 1 ½ cups unsweetened vanilla almond milk
  • 6 strawberries, roughly chopped. Try to get organic if you can.
  • 1 tbsp vanilla protein powder (optional)

To serve

  • fresh strawberries (optional)
  • granola (optional)

Method

  1. In a jar or bowl, combine the oats ,chia seeds, shredded coconut, cinnamon, vanilla and almond milk. Stir to combine and place in the fridge to soak overnight.
  2. Once the oats have soaked, stir in the chopped strawberries and vanilla protein powder, if using. If the mixture is too thick, add some more milk.
  3. Top with fresh strawberries and granola to serve.
