Tips
Hi it’s Jessica here and this is my current daily breakfast and a part of my everyday morning routine at the moment. Upon waking I oil pull (google if you have no idea what this is) and then drinks 2-3 glasses of warm water with lemon and a pinch of salt. I tend to use this time to unpack the dishwasher and start getting organised for the day. Once hydrated I do my morning meditation and movement (this could be a walk with my dog, a yoga class, a weights session, or a bounce on my rebounder). At this point my body is awake and my digestion is ready for breakfast. I find this delicious smoothie a perfect way to get a huge amount of nutrients in without doing all the difficult digesting which can weigh me down and make me feel sluggish and lethargic in the morning.
I added ice to the recipe as I know people like chilled smoothies (particularly in Brissy Summer). I tend to skip on the ice as my tummy is sensitive to cold. I also like to sip on my smoothie slowly and give myself about 10-20 minutes to finish it. I find this gentle approach to my morning digestion really helps me to feel satiated and energised all the way through to lunch.
I got this smoothie recipe from an amazing naturopathic doctor in the USA- Dr Steven Cabral. If you are wanting to learn more about nutrition I highly recommend listening to his podcast
